SUMMARY
BG Research Ltd and sister company BioGene Ltd are innovative SMEs in diagnostics technology, encompassing both biotechnology and biology along with electrical and mechanical aspects.
Prior to us taking over their portfolio early in 2019, they had largely represented themselves on IP matters, for example before the European Patent Office, but came to realise they needed bespoke professional help and strategic advice to provide maximum protection for their innovations. Potter Clarkson was selected from a group of potential firms due to our strong, in-depth scientific knowledge.
We have since worked with them to manage all aspects of their patent portfolio, while also helping them build their own internal capabilities to ensure they retain ownership of the IP process.
We have already had one European application granted, with a number of international and UK applications in progress.
