We recently reported that the Sunrise Period for the new Unified Patent Court (UPC) will be delayed by two months and will now start on the 1 March 2023, to give future users more time to transition to the new administrative systems.
Although not yet officially announced, we have now privately been told by the European Patent Office (EPO) that the previously announced mechanisms for requesting early unitary effect and delaying grant will still be available from 1 January 2023, irrespective of the delay to the start of the Sunrise Period.
