An experienced UK and European patent attorney, Ben is member of Potter Clarkson’s patents team specialising in developing and implementing commercially focused IP strategies, particularly for small and mid sized companies.
Ben is also experienced in conducting IP due diligence for investors, and has extensive experience in patent drafting, prosecution, and opposition and appeals before the EPO.
Ben also has experience with managing large patent families, with instructing prosecution across a range of foreign jurisdictions, and with providing infringement and freedom to operate advice.
Ben obtained his undergraduate degree in Materials Science with Nuclear Engineering at Imperial College London. Ben subsequently obtained his PhD from the Centre for Nuclear Engineering (CNE) at Imperial College, studying the properties and behaviour of structural materials for use in nuclear reactors, and other high irradiation environments.
After completing his PhD, Ben continued his research in a post-doctoral research placement at the CNE, with partial funding provided by the National Nuclear Laboratory.
In 2016, Ben joined the patent profession as a trainee patent attorney. Ben became a dual qualified UK and European patent attorney in 2022. Ben is also a qualified European Patent Litigator, with representation rights before the Unified Patent Court.
