Senior Associate - Patent Attorney

Hannah is part of the pharmaceuticals team at Potter Clarkson. She works on a wide variety of subject areas in the pharmaceutical field, such as new chemical entities, further medical uses, dosage regimens, polymorphs, formulations and process chemistry.

Hannah’s work involves the prosecution of patent applications and oppositions before the European Patent Office. She has been involved in defending several patents protecting approved pharmaceutical products in multi-party opposition proceedings. She has also been involved in the enforcement of patents in global litigation actions.

Hannah has particular experience in working with inventors to draft new chemical entity and medical use patent applications, as well as coordinating the global prosecution of patent families across multiple jurisdictions to bring these cases to grant.

Education

Hannah graduated from the University of Leeds with a first class Master’s degree in Chemistry. During her time at university, Hannah undertook research in the field of crystallisation where her final year Master’s project focused on elucidating the surface structures of polymer substrates that can promote or inhibit crystallisation of pharmaceuticals. She also worked in research and development in the polyurethanes sector of BASF, where she helped develop a low emission injection moulded polyurethane system which led to BASF winning an environmental leadership award for the development of innovative clean technology.

Interests

Outside of the office, Hannah is kept busy on weekend adventures away with her young pup, and can often be found exploring the Archipelago.
