Jack Livsey

Senior Associate - Patent Attorney

Jack advises clients active across a wide variety of engineering disciplines, his daily work including the drafting and prosecution of patent and design applications, patent and design portfolio management, and advising on freedom to operate issues.

Since joining Potter Clarkson in 2018, Jack has gained particular experience advising start-ups in the creation and deployment of their IP strategy, providing a robust IP platform to attract investment.

Before joining Potter Clarkson, Jack focused on the research of hydrogels for applications in soft robotics in his master’s year, developing his knowledge of polymer chemistry. Prior to that, Jack spent his year in industry at Cummins Turbo Technologies where he gained experience across a broad range of industrial work, particularly in the automotive sector. During this time, he spent four months in the research and development department designing and testing new components.

 

Specialisms

Engineering, automotive technologies, robotics, advanced materials and product design. Jack also specialises in climate technologies including energy storage and renewables.

Education

Jack read chemical engineering at the University of Leeds and obtained a first-class honours in his integrated master’s degree with an industrial placement.

Interests

In his spare time Jack enjoys rock climbing as an entertaining way to keep fit, as well as regular trips to the cinema.
