Veronika Brázdová

Associate - Patent Attorney

Following achieving a honours degree in physics, Veronika pursued a research career at Humboldt University Berlin and University College London.

She has extensive experience of large-scale simulations of solid state materials, thin films and proteins, as well as experience of programming scientific software for massive supercomputers. She also has insight into experimental techniques such as spectroscopy and scanning tunnelling microscopy. She has authored and co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles and a textbook on computer simulations.

Veronika combines her broad technical expertise with experience in patent prosecution and writing that is precise and understandable at the same time.

Veronika joined Potter Clarkson in 2021, having previously worked for another leading intellectual property law firm.

Education

Veronika obtained a magister degree with honours in physics of molecular and biological systems at Charles University Prague. She also holds a PhD in theoretical physics from Humboldt University Berlin. She spent several months at University of California Los Angeles.

Awards & Recognition

Veronika wrote a highly regarded computational physics textbook (Brázdová and Bowler, Atomistic Computer Simulations: A Practical Guide, Wiley 2013). A review in Contemporary Physics states “What a gem! This is a truly outstandingly useful book”.

Interests

Outside work, Veronika enjoys playing her harp, singing, writing fiction, hiking, and photography.
