What was your first ever job?
IT Support Analyst at a company called Ncipher which specialised in Data Encryption.
How did you get involved and what first attracted you to your chosen field?
I first got involved with IT when I had a work experience job with Ncipher and they offered me a summer job. I have always been interested in computers and technology, so the role was a particularly good fit for me.
When did you join Potter Clarkson and why?
I joined in July 2018 as I was looking to advance my career in IT and move to a company where I would be able to learn new IT skills.
What is your area of speciality and why did you choose it?
I do not have a particular area of speciality within IT but I do have heavy involvement in dealing with issues with Windows OS and Microsoft Programs. I regularly also deal with Windows and Apple Devices such as laptops/tablet and iPhones and iPads.
What does a typical day in your role entail and what do you most enjoy about it/find most challenging?
A typical day for me entails managing Service Desk tickets, installing and moving the IT equipment around the offices for new starters and leavers and setting up new hardware. I primarily manage the Service Desk which is where all the emails and calls from users are logged, detailing the various issues and questions about their IT equipment/systems.
I most enjoy the variety the role brings each day and being able to be hands on in solving practical IT issues for people. What I find most challenging is keeping up to speed with the array of seemingly ever-changing technology!
What has been the highlight of your career at Potter Clarkson so far?
Being part of the team that rolled out Skype for Business Telephony for the entire firm.
What advice would you give anyone looking to join Potter Clarkson?
If you are looking for a great place to work with new challenges to tackle every day, this could well be the IP law firm for you!
